- Alice spent her early years on Cleveland's East Side, attendingpublic school at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, Corlett Jr. High, EastTechnical and John Adams High Schools. After completing theTenth Grade, she enrolled in the Darvas School of Design whereshe learned the dressmaking trade. Prior to her employment asan office worker by National Screw and Mfg. Co., she had beenemployed as a dressmaker/seamstress by several local firms.Alice, with her family, lived first at 2686 E. 40th. nearScoville Ave., moving in 1911 to 3580 E. 116th St. near BenhamAve., and in 1921 to a larger home at 12504 Rexford Ave untilher marriage to Ralph E.
